Contact Bishop Museum Botany Department for details Preserved_Specimen The elliptic-leaved ohia with acute bases occurs on banks of rivers in this area, grading into cf. glaberrima (macrophylla) of the forest. Though Rock cites newellii as strictly glabrous, the ohia on banks are often canescent. This seems to be a good ecologically distinct ohia less than 5 m. tall.
